Dysmenorrhea, known as painful menstruation, is a condition that many women face. Pain that starts before the menstrual period may increase even more with the onset of bleeding. Pain in the abdomen and groin area is common, especially in adolescence. Dysmenorrhea, although rare, can occur in advanced ages. This situation, which is caused by an increase in the level of prostaglandin secreted by the uterus, can lead to various anatomical disorders. Painful menstruation can develop due to different factors. Fibroids, adhesions and endometriosis (chocolate cyst) may also be among the common causes.
